Each coaching situation is unique. We work on what you feel you need to work on. You become involved in various exercises, and conversations, to determine what you want to gain from your coaching experience. You begin by determining what concerns you so you may set your values and goals. You identify your values so we may create a map to guide you on making these things happen. Coaches do not have answers; they have the questions to help you find the answers. Through coaching you get to know yourself in a deeper level. I prefer coaching to counseling because You are the expert on your life, as a result, you dictate your coaching agenda. Your coach is there to help you discover yourself and what you need to do to make successful changes in your life. A coach is your partner and guide, not your teacher. The coaches goal is to help you find your strengths to help you make positive changes. You can expect to participate in various exercises and conversations focused on learning more about yourself and what you need to do to reach your goals.
The coaching process
starts by providing you with an initial free 15-minute session. No risk, no cost, what more could you ask for? A follow up assessment
package is sent to help get you, and your coach, started. You will than receive an intake package with a coaching agreement and questions
to answer about yourself and your coaching agenda. It makes sense to invest time in a coach to help accomplish specific goals or projects,
as a result I try to have your first contract for a minimum 3-month time frame. Change and learning takes time. A contract will be
provided to you with pay schedules. Discounts are available for advance payments. (Fees are individual and vary according to the frequency
and length of coaching sessions. We discuss your needs and adjust accordingly.) For ongoing coaching billing is done one month in
advance. Since life is not cut and dried your coach is often available for conversations before and after scheduled sessions. This
might be for short phone calls or through email. You may stay with me as long as you feel you are getting value out of the coaching. You can end your coaching, at the end of any monthly session, and get a full refund for any unused sessions. Coaching is an investment
of time, energy and money. There are 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year. You need to consider if you are spending this time living
your values in your life. If not you might want to consider making the changes needed to live true to your values and work toward
the goals that you need to set.
The first interview session usually lasts about one ½ to two hours and, if possible, is carried out
in person at the office, your home or a coffee shop. Typically coaching meetings are regularly scheduled, three or four per month
for 30, 45 or 60 minutes at a specific time. Some executive clients hire their coaches simply to be available when they have a challenge
to discuss and there is no predetermined timetable. Coaching is not limited to a weekly one-hour session. I often give my clients
reading assignments and "homework" to do in between sessions. You do what you feel will work for you.
